Of All of the ways of Creating content that is blog, my favorite method is To make and sell electronic products. I have discovered that it’s extraordinarily profitable than running advertisements from networks such as AdSense, and self-made products convert at a higher speed compared to an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this post I’ll be discussing what I both like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip experience for a seller for 2+ years. Bookbub
My Payhip Experience
If you have ever wanted to market products Through your own website, you’ll need a means to facilitate transactions — some sort of infrastructure which will enable a customer to select your goods, pay for it, and also have it immediately delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this issue.
What is Payhip?
Payhip is An that provides users with solutions and the tools for hosting and promoting products directly to their customers online.
The company Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
What are the advantages of using Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I have used a couple of them in the past.
Having A platform that is really easy to use and one that doesn’t require a huge amount of my precious time is of paramount significance.
Payhip will Save a lot of time also because everything is taken care of on the Payhip platform.
The Benefits that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip include –
- EU VAT is taken care of, and it can be a huge plus in my book.
- Affordable. The site takes zero charges asides From 5 percent per transaction when you sell a product that is digital.
- Access to analytics accounts.
- Access to advertising tools. You have the option to make Social and Coupons discounts.
- Capability to signup, handle and reward your affiliates.
- Access to product sharing tools. Plus you can embed Your merchandise and purchase Now buttons directly on your website or blog.

What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let us get to the information. After my two + year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I really like about the service…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let’s your customers pay with PayPal Or by credit/debit card with Stripe, plus they do not pay out monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait around for them to clear some sort of holding period. When a client makes a purchase, the money is immediately available in your accounts, and if you have the PayPal and also Stripe apps installed on your mobile device, you’ll receive notifications each time a sale occurs. Bookbub
I happen to love this. The excitement of Seeing a new sale never gets older. It’s also great to awake in the morning, reach for your phone, and see you made X amount of dollars while you were sleeping, and it’s all easily available for you to spend. The caveat to this is Stripe. If your clients pays by card with Stripe, there will be a three day hold before the cash is available. That is Stripe though — Payhip doesn’t hold your cash at all.
No Monthly Charges
One of the things that Payhip initially sold me is that there’s no Monthly fees or installation charges — just a simple flat charge of 5 percent per sale.
This was attractive to me Because, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and that I was not positive I was likely to always sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee for a similar service like Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a small crowd, Payhip was the quickest solution that best match my situation.
Simple To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end Provides an page That enables you to see transactions and earnings amounts relative to the day, month, week, year, or some other specified range. Best of all, it’s a very simple and to-the-point report.
If you’ve used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of data you are immediately smacked in the face can be a bit overwhelming, and a lot of it’s mostly useless also. Payhip just gives you exactly what you are there to see — sales data. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip encounter is By producing coupon codes, promotions to run.
The codes can be for any percentage you would Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They can run for any length you want (or even permanently,) and the code itself can even be customized to whatever series of text you desire.
I have found this to be somewhat useful. Occasionally I will conduct a weekend marketing, post it on Facebook raise the article targeting a pixel audience and I never fail to go ROI positive by it. People do respond to limited time offers. Bookbub
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip gives you the ability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your store, and you are able to award them a commission of whatever percentage you would like, someone buys a product with their custom affiliate link.
This is useful since it allows other people To market your merchandise the commissions paid will be well worth it, and should they have a platform and an audience of their own they can tap into.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
If you’re into email advertising, you will be Able to readily integrate Payhip along with your email advertising provider that is preferred so that a purchase is made, the email address of the purchaser can be added into a selected listing.
This is minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I wish to give it a mention — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the buyer’s email address into the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they have bought.
So if someone plans to Purchase Your PDF Book subsequently make it publicly accessible for free somewhere else, they will need to be okay with their private email address being accessible as well. I think that’s a creative way of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Sorts of Files
Payhip is not Only a market for ebooks — You can upload just about any sort of electronic file. Font documents, video/audio documents, photos, software, etc..
Total Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can’t be overlooked whenever You are selling something is your site appears. People generally don’t trust sites which appear outdated, myself included. If a site looks like it has not been upgraded since the web 2.0 times, then I begin to wonder if perhaps I am in an abandoned construction and putting my payment info into it’d pretty much be like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not the case with Payhip though. The Site has a very contemporary and simple layout. If you should purchase a digital product this is exactly what you’d anticipate a checkout page by a business to appear like. Bookbub
Another thing that I enjoy about Payhip is its own Overall simplicity. In the a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and just the crucial info (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your purchase — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Eventually, what I enjoy about Payhip is That they don’t store customer payment information, meaning that your customers’ payment details are safe. The payment is completely managed through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it this way as they’re big companies with lots of cash.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I enjoy Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
1 thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They don’t possess a program. It’d be convenient to be able to open an app while I am out and around, and take a look through my data. You do so and can log into the website, but the website is optimized for mobile devices.
I enjoy Payhip, but that is a really Lousy appearance in 2018. There is no reason you should not have a site optimized for mobile, and when you have that, you ought to be able to easily turn the website itself right into it’s own program so users don’t have to manually sign in each time they would like to check sales data. Users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they are on their cellular devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons In Checkout
On the checkout page, I would really like to see an added capability to suggest Other products. For example, if they are purchasing a bundle of logo templates for $5, then I might provide a bundle of business card templates to get a couple of dollars, or propose some other product that may interest them they didn’t know about. This is something which websites like VistaPrint and Amazon do well.
I can not help but feel as though there’s a Great Deal of money being left on the Table — for myself and Payhip — without this operation. This could improve the Payhip experience for both the customer and the seller.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I Like to see it fixed.
Since Payhip is located in London, they have BST was set to by the working timezone for the whole website. Since I’m located in the EST, I will occasionally check my stats at 7PM or later and see that I left 0 earnings for the day because Payhip believes it is midnight and its data reveals that.
This is largely a non-issue, however I Would love to observe the ability to correct the website to your own timezone. Bookbub
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon Code feature but it is not perfect just yet.
As it stands, the sole promotion You can run via a coupon code. Ideally, I’d love to have the ability to offer a dollar amount to set a predetermined sale price.
Right Now, if I want to put a $27 product Available for $10, I have to break out the calculator and manually do the math to figure out what percentage off would leave the final price at $10. I believe this is unnecessary and may be made better.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you have access to innovative alternatives including —
- Make your merchandise personal.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) to your eBook.
- Publish sample pages or a few preview.
- To the number of copies of eBook or your product could be add a limit amount sold.
- Create a exceptional license key for each of your product/eBook revenue.
Just how much does it cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing or host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2years as a vendor on Payhip, do you recommend it? Overall, yes. I am a client, but whether you should use it depends on your own situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can not justify spending $10+ per month to get something such as Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. But if you have a massive audience or market a merchandise and know you’ll be doing at least $1,000 in sales each month, you may want to check into something most cost effective.
As of this date of the writing, Payhip functions On a flat fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 a month.
If you are going to be selling less than $1,000 per month in total volume, the math should (in most cases) prefer Payhip. But if you are selling well into the thousands, you need to decide on Gumroad or start looking into some other choice. That is largely dependent on how many transactions it requires to achieve those sales numbers though, so make sure to crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Expertise and am very grateful for their services. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Bookbub
