Background Gumroad Fees
Of All of the ways of monetizing content that is blog, my favorite method is Like learning design templates and materials to create and sell digital products. I’ve found that it’s extraordinarily rewarding than running advertisements from networks like AdSense, and self-made products convert at a higher speed than an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to ease this is Payhip, and this article I will be discussing what I like and dislike about the ceremony based on my Payhip experience for a seller for 2+ years. Gumroad Fees
My Payhip Experience
If you wanted to sell products Through your own site, you’ll want a way to facilitate trades — some sort of infrastructure that will allow a client to select your product, pay for it, and have it instantaneously delivered to them with whole hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
Payhip is An that provides users with solutions and the tools for hosting and selling electronic products to their customers online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
Which are the advantages of using Payhip?
Each online Platform differs, and I have used a few of them in the past.
For me, having A platform that is so easy to use and one that does not require a massive amount of my time that is precious is of utmost significance.
Payhip will Save you a great deal of time because everything is taken care of on the Payhip platform.
The Advantages that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip include –
- EU VAT is taken care of, and it can be a huge plus in my book.
- Affordable. The website takes zero fees asides From 5% per trade when you sell a item that is digital.
- Access to analytics accounts.

What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let us get to the details. Following my 2+ year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I really like about the service…
Upgrades Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card with Stripe, plus they don’t pay out monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait for them to clear some sort of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the money is instantly available in your account, and in case you have the PayPal and Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you are going to get notifications each time a sale occurs. Gumroad Fees
I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. In addition, it is good to wake up in the morning, reach for your phone, and see you made X number of dollars while you were sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The only caveat to this is Stripe. If your clients card using Stripe, there will be a 3 day hold until the cash is available. That is Stripe however — Payhip doesn’t hold your cash in any way.
No Monthly Charges
One of those things that Payhip initially sold me is that there’s no Monthly fees or installation charges — just a simple flat fee of 5 percent per purchase .
This was attractive to me back Because, at the time, my readership was 1/10th of what it’s now, and that I was not positive that I was going to consistently sell enough product to justify paying a monthly fee for a similar service like Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a small audience, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my scenario.
Easy To Know Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That lets you view transactions and earnings amounts relative to this day, week, month, year, or any other specified selection. Best of all, it is a report.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the amount of data you are immediately smacked in the face can be a bit overwhelming, and lots of it’s largely useless too. Payhip just provides you exactly what you are there to see — sales data. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another benefit users of Payhip encounter is Promotions to conduct by producing coupon codes.
The codes may be for almost any percentage you’d Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They could run for any duration you’d like (or even indefinitely,) and the code itself may even be customized to whatever series of text you desire.
I have found this to be somewhat useful. Sometimes I’ll run a weekend promotion, place it on Facebook, then boost the article targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I never fail to go ROI positive by it. People truly do respond to limited time offers. Gumroad Fees
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip gives you the ability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your shop, and whenever someone purchases a product you can award them a commission of whatever percentage you’d like.
This is useful since it allows other Men and Women To sell your merchandise and if they have a platform and an audience of their own they can tap to, the commissions paid will be worth it.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You will be, if you are into advertising Able to readily incorporate Payhip along with your email advertising supplier so that whenever a purchase is made, the purchaser’s email address could be added to a listing that is selected.
This is relatively minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a reference — if you desire, you can have Payhip stamp the purchaser’s email address into the top left corner of each page of a PDF document they’ve purchased.
So if someone intends to buy your PDF Book make it accessible for free somewhere else, they will need to be fine with their personal email address being publicly accessible as well. I think that’s a really creative means of deterring pirating.
Upload Many Kinds of Files
Payhip isn’t just a market for ebooks — It’s possible to upload any kind of file. Font documents, video/audio documents, photos, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can not be overlooked whenever You are selling something is the way present your site looks. People don’t trust myself included. If a site looks like it hasn’t been updated since the web 2.0 times, then I begin to wonder if perhaps I’m in an abandoned construction and putting my payment info to it would pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That’s not true with Payhip though. The Site has a very modern and easy layout. This is what you’d expect a checkout page by a trusted business if you should purchase a product on the world wide web. Gumroad Fees
Another thing I like about Payhip is its own In general simplicity. In the moment a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and only the critical information (such as price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no.
Finally, what I enjoy about Payhip is That customer payment information isn’t stored by them, meaning that your customers’ payment details are secure. The payment is managed through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it this way as they are big companies with lots of cash to spend on top-shelf security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it’s far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the service and would like to see enhanced…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me about Payhip is that They don’t have a mobile app. It’d be convenient to be able to open an app while I am out and about, and have a look. You do so and can log into the site, but the site is optimized for mobile devices.
I enjoy Payhip, but this is a really Lousy look in 2018. There is no reason you should not have a website optimized for mobile, and once you’ve got that, you should be able to easily turn the site itself into it’s own program so users don’t need to manually register in each time they would like to check sales data. Permit users of Payhip encounter a platform when they are on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons In Checkout
On the checkout page, I would like to see an ability to indicate Other products. For example, if they are buying a bundle of templates for $5, I might provide a bundle of business card templates or propose. This is something that websites like Amazon and VistaPrint do.
I can not help but feel as though there is a Great Deal of money Table — for myself and Payhip — without this operation. This could improve the Payhip encounter for both the vendor and the client.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is largely frivolous, but I’d still Like to see it corrected.
Considering that Payhip is located in London, they’ve BST was set to by the timezone for the site. Since I am found in the EST, I will sometimes check my stats at 7PM or afterwards and see that I left 0 earnings for the day since Payhip thinks it is midnight and its data reveals that.
Again, this is a non-issue, but I Would love to observe that the ability to adjust the site to your timezone. Gumroad Fees
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon Code feature earlier, but it is not quite perfect.
As it currently stands, the sole promotion You can run through a coupon code is to get a percentage off. I’d like to be able to supply a dollar amount to set a sale price.
At the moment, if I Need to place a merchandise Available for $10, I have to break out the calculator and do the math to determine what percent off would leave the price. I believe that is unnecessary and may be made better.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you also have access to innovative options which include —
- Make your merchandise private.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) to your eBook.
- Publish sample pages or a preview.
- To the number of copies of market or your product can be, Insert a limitation amount sold.
- Create a license key that is unique .
How much does it cost?
Payhip will Cost you to set up or host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per transaction fee.
Would I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2years as a seller on Payhip, do you recommend it? Total, yes. I am very much a satisfied customer, but whether you ought to use it depends upon your own situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ per month for something such as Gumroad, then yes, I would absolutely recommend Payhip. If you have a massive audience or market a product and know that you’ll do at least $1,000 in sales each month, you may want to look into something most cost effective.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip works On a set fee of 5 percent of each sale. Gumroad’s fee is currently 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be selling $1,000 per month in total quantity, the mathematics should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you’re selling into the thousands, you’ll probably need to decide on Gumroad or look into some other alternative. That is largely dependent on the number of transactions it requires to reach those sales numbers, however, so make sure to crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I love the Payhip Experience and am very grateful for their services. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Gumroad Fees
