Introduction Ice Cream Reader
Of All of the ways of Creating blog content, my favorite method is To create and sell digital products such as learning layout templates and materials. I’ve discovered that it is extraordinarily more rewarding than running advertisements from networks like AdSense, and products convert at a significantly greater rate than an affiliate product that somebody else created. The service I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this post I will be sharing what I like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip experience for a vendor for two + years. Ice Cream Reader
My Payhip Experience
If you’ve ever wanted to market products Through your own website, you are going to need a means to facilitate transactions — some sort of infrastructure which will enable a client to select your goods, pay for it, and have it immediately delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
Payhip is An e-commerce platform/website that gives users with solutions and the tools for promoting products straight to their customers and hosting online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is currently based in my capital city of London.
What are the advantages of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I’ve used a couple of them in the past.
For me, having A stage that is really simple to use and one that doesn’t take a massive amount of my valuable time is of paramount importance.

What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let us get to the information. Following my 2 year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I really like about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let’s your customers pay with PayPal Or by credit/debit card using Stripe, and they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or make you wait around for them to clean some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the cash is immediately available in your account, and in case you have the PayPal and Stripe apps installed on your mobile device, you’ll get notifications whenever a sale happens. I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. It’s also great to wake up in the morning, reach for your telephone, and also see that you made X amount of dollars while you were sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The caveat to this is Stripe. If your customers pays by card using Stripe, there’ll be a three day hold until the money is available. This is all Stripe however — Payhip does not hold your cash at all.
No Monthly Fees
Among those things that Payhip initially sold me is that there’s no Monthly charges or setup charges — only a simple flat fee of 5% per sale.
This was attractive to me in 2016 Since, at the time, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and I wasn’t positive that I was likely to consistently sell enough product to justify paying a monthly fee for a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a small audience, Payhip was the quickest solution that best match my situation.
Easy To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That enables you to see transactions and earnings quantities relative to the day, month, week, year, or some other specified selection. Best of all, it’s a really straightforward and to-the-point report.
If you’ve ever used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of information you’re immediately smacked in the face can be somewhat overwhelming, and a lot of it is mostly useless too. Payhip just gives you exactly what you are there to view — sales data. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another benefit users of Payhip encounter is By creating coupon codes, promotions to run.
The codes may be for almost any percentage you would Like and for any (or all) products. They can run for any length you’d like (or even permanently,) along with the code itself can even be customized to whatever string of text you desire.
I have found this to be somewhat useful. Occasionally I’ll conduct a weekend marketing, place it on Facebook, then boost the post targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I never fail to go ROI positive with it. People really do respond well to limited time offers. Ice Cream Reader
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the ability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your shop, and someone buys a product you can grant them a commission of whatever percent you’d like.
This is useful because it allows people To sell your products the commissions paid will be worth it and if they have an audience of their own and a platform they can tap to.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You will be, if you’re into advertising Able to readily incorporate Payhip along with your email advertising provider that is preferred so that a sale is made, the email address of the purchaser could be added to a listing that is selected.
That is relatively small but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a reference — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the buyer’s email address to the upper left corner of every page of a PDF document they have bought.
So if someone intends to buy your PDF Book then make it accessible for free they’ll need to be fine with their email address being available. I believe that is a very creative way of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Kinds of Files
Payhip isn’t Only a market for ebooks — You can upload any kind of electronic file. Font documents, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can not be overlooked whenever You are selling something is how current your site looks. People generally don’t trust websites that appear obsolete, myself included. If a website looks like it hasn’t been upgraded since the net 2.0 days, I begin to wonder if perhaps I’m in an abandoned building and placing my payment info to it’d pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not the case with Payhip though. The Site has a layout that is easy and very contemporary. This is exactly what you’d expect a checkout page from a trusted business, if you should buy a digital product on the internet. Ice Cream Reader
Another thing that I like about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. In the second a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and only the critical information (such as price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Finally, what I actually enjoy about Payhip is That customer payment info isn’t stored by them, meaning that your customers’ payment details are secure. The payment is managed through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it that way as they are big companies with lots of cash to invest on security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
1 thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They do not possess a mobile app. It would be convenient to have the ability to start an app while I am out and around and take a look through my data. You do so and may log into the site, but the website isn’t even optimized for mobile devices.
I enjoy Payhip, but that is a really Bad appearance in 2018. There is no reason you shouldn’t have a website optimized for cellular, and once you’ve got that, you ought to be able to easily turn the website itself into it’s own program so users do not have to manually sign in each time they would like to inspect sales information. Permit users of Payhip experience a much better platform when they are on their mobile devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons In Checkout
On the checkout page, I’d really like to see an capability that is added to suggest Other products similar to what the customer is going to purchase. For instance, if they’re buying a bundle of logo templates for $5, I propose some other product which could interest them they didn’t know about, or might provide a package of business card templates to get a few bucks. This is something which sites like Amazon and VistaPrint do.
I can’t help but feel as though there is a Great Deal of money being left on the Table — for myself and Payhip — without this functionality. This may improve the Payhip experience for both the customer and the vendor.
Establish On A Fixed Timezone
This one is mostly frivolous, but I had still Prefer to see it fixed.
Considering that Payhip is located in London, they have The working timezone for the whole website set to BST. Since I’m found in the EST, I’ll occasionally check my analytics at 7PM or afterwards and see that I left 0 sales for the day because Payhip thinks it is midnight and its data reveals that.
Again, this is largely a non-issue, however I Would like to observe the capability to adjust the site to your timezone. Ice Cream Reader
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon It’s not perfect, although code feature earlier.
As it now stands, the only advertising You’re able to run via a coupon code. I’d like to have the ability to offer a dollar amount from the cost, or the capability to set a sale price that is specified.
Right Now, if I Need to place a product On sale for $10, manually do the math to determine what percentage off will leave the final price at $10 and I have to break out the calculator. I think this is unnecessary and may be improved.
When creating A new product in Payhip, you also have access to innovative alternatives which include —
- Make your product private.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Publish a few preview or sample pages.
- Add a limit amount to the number of copies of market or your product could be sold.
- Create a exceptional license key .
How much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you or even host your electronic products. The website takes only 5% commission per transaction fee.
Would I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after two + years as a seller on Payhip, would you recommend it? Total, yes. I am very much a customer, but whether or not you should use it depends on your situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can not justify spending $10+ per month to get something like Gumroad, then yes, I would absolutely recommend Payhip. But in case you know you’ll do at least $ 1,000 in sales every month and market a merchandise that is high-ticket or have a massive audience, you may want to look into something.
As of this date of this writing, Payhip functions On a flat fee of 5% of each sale. Gumroad’s fee is currently 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 a month.
If you’re going to be promoting less than $1,000 per month in total quantity, the math should (in most cases) prefer Payhip. But if you are selling well into the thousands, you’ll probably want to decide on Gumroad or look into some other alternative. That is mostly dependent on how many transactions it requires to reach those sales numbers so be sure that you crunch the numbers.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Experience and am really grateful for their solutions. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Ice Cream Reader
