Background My Word Book App
Of all the ways of monetizing blog content, my favorite Strategy is To make and sell products. I have found that it is extraordinarily more rewarding than running advertisements from networks like AdSense, and self-made products convert at a significantly greater rate than an affiliate product that somebody else created. The service I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this post I’ll be sharing what I like and dislike about the service based in my Payhip expertise as a seller for two + years. My Word Book App
My Payhip Experience
If you wanted to sell digital products Through your own site, you are going to want a means to facilitate transactions — some kind of infrastructure which will enable a client to select your product, cover it, and have it instantaneously delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
Payhip is An that gives customers with solutions and the tools for hosting and promoting digital products to their clients online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
Which are the benefits of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I have used a couple of these in the past.

What I Like About Payhip
Let us get to the details. After my 2+ year Payhip experience, Here Is What I really like about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or by credit/debit card with Stripe, and they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or make you wait around for them to clear some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the cash is instantly available on your accounts, and if you’ve got the PayPal and also Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you are going to get notifications whenever a sale occurs. My Word Book App
I happen to love this. The excitement of Seeing a new sale never gets old. In addition, it is great to awake in the morning, reach for your phone, and see you made X number of dollars while you’re sleeping, and it’s all easily available for you to spend. The caveat to this can be Stripe. If your customers pays by card using Stripe, there will be a 3 day hold before the money is available. This is all Stripe though — Payhip doesn’t hold your money in any way.
No Monthly Fees
Among those things that Payhip originally sold me on is that there is no Monthly charges or installation charges — only a simple flat charge of 5 percent per purchase .
This was attractive to me in 2016 Since, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and that I wasn’t positive that I was going to consistently sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee to get a similar service like Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger having a little audience, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my situation.
Easy To Know Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That enables you to view transactions and earnings amounts relative to the day, week, month, year, or any other given range. Best of all, it’s a report that is very simple and to-the-point.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of information you are immediately smacked in the face can be a bit overwhelming, and lots of it’s mostly useless also. Payhip just gives you exactly what you are there to see — sales information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip experience is By creating coupon codes, promotions to run.
The codes can be Like and for any (or all) products. They could run for any duration you’d like (or even permanently,) along with the code itself may even be customized to whatever string of text you desire.
I have found this to be very helpful. Sometimes I’ll run a weekend promotion, post it on Facebook, then boost the post targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I don’t fail to go ROI positive by it. People really do respond well to limited time offers. My Word Book App
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the capability Readers sign up as an affiliate of your store, and someone buys a product using their customized affiliate link, you are able to grant them a commission of whatever percent you would like.
This is useful because it allows people To sell your merchandise for you, the commissions paid will be worth it and if they have an audience of their own and a stage that they can tap into.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
If you’re into marketing, you will be Able to easily integrate Payhip with your email marketing provider that is preferred so that whenever a purchase is made, the purchaser’s email address could be added into a list.
This is minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a mention — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the purchaser’s email address to the upper left corner of every page of a PDF document they’ve purchased.
So if someone plans to Purchase Your PDF Publication make it publicly accessible for free somewhere else, they will have to be fine with their private email address being available. I think that’s a means of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Sorts of Files
Payhip is not just a marketplace for ebooks — It’s possible to upload any kind of digital file. Font files, video/audio files, photos, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can not be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is the way current your website appears. People do not trust myself included. If a site looks like it has not been upgraded because the net 2.0 days, I start to wonder if maybe I am in an abandoned construction and placing my payment information into it’d pretty much be like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not true with Payhip though. The Website has a simple and very contemporary design. This is exactly what you would anticipate a checkout page by a trustworthy business, if you were to purchase a product on the world wide web. My Word Book App
Another thing I enjoy about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. From the very moment a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and only the crucial information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your purchase — no.
Eventually, what I actually like about Payhip is That they don’t store customer payment information, meaning your customers’ payment details are secure. The payment is handled through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it this way because they’re large, successful companies with lots of money to invest on security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I enjoy Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They don’t have a mobile app. It’d be convenient to have the ability to open an app while I am out and about and take a look during my data. The website is optimized for mobile devices, although you do so and may log into the website.
I like Payhip, but this is a very Lousy appearance in 2018. There is no reason you shouldn’t have a site optimized for cellular, and when you have that, you ought to be able to easily turn the website itself into it’s own app so users don’t need to manually sign in each time they would like to check sales information. Users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they are on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I would like to see an added ability to suggest Other products similar to what the customer is going to purchase. By way of instance, if they’re purchasing a package of logo templates for $5, then I suggest some other product that may interest them they didn’t know about, or might offer a bundle of business card templates to get a few dollars. This is something which sites like VistaPrint and Amazon do quite well.
I can not help but feel as though there is a Great Deal of money Table — for myself and Payhip — without this functionality. This could enhance the Payhip encounter for both the customer and the vendor.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I had still Like to see it corrected.
Considering that Payhip is located in London, they have The functioning timezone for the entire site place to BST. Since I am located in the EST, I will occasionally check my stats at 7PM or later and see that I left 0 earnings for the day since Payhip believes it’s midnight and its own information reflects that.
Again, this is a non-issue, but I Would like to see the capability to correct the website to your timezone. My Word Book App
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon It’s not quite perfect, although Code attribute earlier.
As it currently stands, the only promotion You’re able to run through a voucher code is for a percent off. I’d love to be able to offer a dollar amount from the cost, or the capability to set a sale price.
At the moment, if I want to put a product On sale for $10, I have to break out the calculator and manually do the math to determine what percentage off would leave the cost. I think that is unnecessary and could be improved.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you have access to innovative options including —
- Make your product private.
- Insert an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Upload sample pages or a couple of preview.
- To the number of copies of market or your product could be, add a limit number sold.
- Generate a license key for all your product/eBook sales.
Just how much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing to establish or even host your digital products. The site takes only 5% commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2years as a seller on Payhip, do you recommend it? Overall, yes. I am a customer, but whether you should use it depends on your own situation.
If you’re a blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ a month to get something such as Gumroad, then yes, I would absolutely recommend Payhip. If you know you’ll do at least $ 1,000 in sales every month and sell a product that is high-ticket or have a massive audience, you may want to check into something.
As of this date of the writing, Payhip functions On a flat fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is currently 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be selling less than $1,000 a month in total volume, the mathematics should (typically ) favor Payhip. But if you’re selling well into the thousands, you’ll probably want to decide on Gumroad or start looking into another choice. That is largely dependent on the number of transactions it requires to reach those sales numbers so be sure to crunch the numbers for yourself.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Expertise and am grateful for their solutions. I would like to see them continue to grow and succeed. My Word Book App
