Of All of the ways of monetizing Articles that is blog, my favorite Strategy is To make and sell products such as studying materials and layout templates. I have found that it is extraordinarily more rewarding than running ads and self explanatory products convert at a greater rate than an affiliate product that someone else created. The service I use to facilitate this can be Payhip, and in this post I’ll be sharing what I like and dislike about the service based in my Payhip experience as a vendor for 2+ years.
My Payhip Experience
If you wanted to sell digital products Through your own website, you’ll want a means to facilitate trades — some kind of infrastructure that will allow a customer to select your product, pay for it, and also have it instantaneously delivered to them with whole hands-off automation. Payhip solves this issue.
What is Payhip?
Payhip is An e-commerce platform/website that provides users with the easiest tools and options for hosting and selling products to their clients online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
What are the advantages of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform differs, and I’ve used a few of them in the past.
For me personally, having A platform that is really easy to use and one that does not require a massive amount of my time is of paramount significance.
Payhip will Save a great deal of time also because everything is cared for on the Payhip platform.
The Benefits that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip comprise –
- EU VAT is taken care of, and it can be a huge plus in my book.

What I Like About Payhip
Let us get to the details. Following my two + year Payhip expertise, here’s what I really like about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let’s your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card with Stripe, plus they don’t pay out monthly/weekly/quarterly or make you wait for them to clear some sort of holding period. When a client makes a purchase, the money is immediately available on your accounts, and if you’ve got the PayPal and Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you are going to receive notifications each time a sale happens.
I happen to love this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. In addition, it is great to wake up in the morning, reach to your telephone, and also see that you made X number of dollars while you’re sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The caveat to this is Stripe. If your customers pays by card with Stripe, there’ll be a three day hold before the cash is available. This is Stripe though — Payhip does not hold your money in any way.
No Monthly Charges
Among the things that Payhip originally sold me is that there’s no Monthly fees or setup charges — just a simple flat fee of 5 percent per sale.
This was appealing to me back in 2016 Since, at the time, my readership was 1/10th of what it’s now, and I wasn’t positive that I was likely to always sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee for a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a little audience, Payhip was the quickest solution that best match my scenario.
Easy To Know Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That enables you to view transactions and earnings quantities relative to the day, week, month, year, or some other given range. Best of all, it is a report.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of data you’re immediately smacked in the face with can be somewhat overwhelming, and a lot of it’s largely useless also. Payhip just gives you what you’re there to see — revenue data. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another benefit users of Payhip experience is By producing coupon codes promotions to run.
The codes may be for any percentage you would Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They could run for any length you want (or even indefinitely,) and the code itself can even be customized to whatever series of text you desire.
I have found this to be helpful. Occasionally I will conduct a weekend marketing, place it on Facebook raise the post targeting a pixel re-marketing audience and I don’t fail to go ROI positive with it. People truly do respond to limited time offers.
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip gives you the capability Readers sign up as an affiliate of your store, and you can grant them a commission of whatever percentage you would like, someone buys a product using their custom affiliate link.
This is useful because it allows people To sell your merchandise the commissions paid will be well worth it and if they have an audience of their own and a platform that they can tap into.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You’ll be if you’re into marketing Able to readily incorporate Payhip along with your email marketing supplier that is preferred so that if a sale is made, the email address of the purchaser can be added to a selected list.
This is relatively small but I think it’s Pretty cool so I wish to give it a reference — if you desire, you can have Payhip stamp the purchaser’s email address to the top left corner of every page of a PDF document they have bought.
So if someone intends to buy your PDF Book then make it publicly available for free somewhere else, they’ll need to be okay with their personal email address being accessible as well. I think that’s a means of deterring pirating.
Upload Many Kinds of Files
Payhip is not just a marketplace for ebooks — It’s possible to upload just about any kind of electronic file. Font files, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Total Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can not be overlooked whenever You are selling something is your website appears. Individuals do not trust sites that appear obsolete, myself included. If a site looks like it hasn’t been updated because the web 2.0 days, I start to wonder if maybe I am in an abandoned construction and putting my payment info into it’d pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not the case with Payhip though. The Website has a simple and very modern layout. This is exactly what you would expect a checkout page from a trustworthy company, if you were to buy a digital merchandise on the internet.
Another thing I enjoy about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. In the second a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip stays out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and only the critical information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no.
Eventually, what I really like about Payhip is That customer payment info isn’t stored by them, meaning that your customers’ payment details are safe. The payment is completely managed through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it that way because they are successful companies with a lot of money to spend on top-shelf security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some items that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They do not possess a app. It’d be convenient to be able to start an app while I am out and about and take a look. The website is optimized for mobile devices, although you do so and may log into the site.
I like Payhip, but this is a really Bad appearance in 2018. There is no reason you shouldn’t have a website optimized for mobile, and when you’ve got that, you ought to be able to easily turn the site itself into it’s own app so users do not have to manually register in every time they want to inspect sales information. Let users of Payhip encounter a platform when they are on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I’d really like to see an added ability to indicate Other products similar to what the client is about to buy. By way of example, if they’re buying a package of templates for $5, I could provide a package of business card templates to get a couple of added bucks, or propose some other product which could interest them that they previously didn’t know about. This is something which sites like Amazon and VistaPrint do.
I can not help but feel like there’s a lot of money being left on the Table — for both myself and Payhip — without this operation. This may enhance the Payhip experience for both the customer and the seller.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I had still Prefer to see it fixed.
Since Payhip is located in London, they’ve The functioning timezone for the website place to BST. Since I’m located in the EST, I will occasionally check my analytics at 7PM or later and see that I left 0 earnings for the day since Payhip thinks it is midnight and its own data reflects that.
This is largely a non-issue, but I Would love to observe that the capability to adjust the site.
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon It’s not perfect just yet, although code feature earlier.
As it stands, the advertising You can run via a voucher code. I’d like to be able to offer a dollar amount off the price, or the ability to set a predetermined sale price.
Right Now, if I Need to place a $27 merchandise Available for $10, manually do the math to figure out what percent off would render the final price at $10 and I have to break out the calculator. I think this is unnecessary and may be improved.
When creating A new product in Payhip, you also have access to innovative options which include —
- Make your merchandise personal.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) to your eBook.
- Upload a sample or preview pages.
- To the number of copies of your product or eBook can be, add a limit number sold.
- Create a license key for each of your product/eBook revenue.
Just how much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing to establish or even host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2+ years as a seller on Payhip, would you recommend it? Total, yes. I am very much a client, but whether you should use it depends on your situation.
If you’re a blogger with a small audience And you can not justify spending $10+ per month to get something such as Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. But if you know you’ll be doing at least $ 1,000 in sales each month and market a product or have a massive audience, you may want to look into something most cost effective.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip works On a flat fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be promoting less than $1,000 a month in total quantity, the mathematics should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you’re selling into the thousands, you’ll probably want to go with Gumroad or start looking into some choice. This is largely dependent on the number of transactions it takes to achieve those sales numbers so make sure to crunch the numbers for yourself.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Expertise and am really thankful for their services. I would like to see them continue to grow and succeed.
