Of all the ways of monetizing Articles, my Strategy is To make and sell electronic products. I’ve discovered that it’s extraordinarily profitable than running ads and products convert at a much greater rate than an affiliate product that someone else created. The service I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this post I’ll be discussing what I like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip experience for a seller for 2+ years. Play Books Offline
My Payhip Experience
If you wanted to market digital products Through your own site, you’ll want a way to facilitate transactions — some kind of infrastructure that will allow a client to select your product, cover it, and have it immediately delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
What is Payhip?
Payhip is An e-commerce platform/website that gives customers with options and the simplest tools for promoting electronic products directly to their clients and hosting online.
The company Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
Which are the advantages of using Payhip?
Each online Platform differs, and I’ve used a couple of these previously.
For me personally, having A platform that is so simple to use and one that does not require a massive amount of my time that is valuable is of paramount importance.
Payhip will Save a great deal of time too because everything is cared for on the Payhip platform.
The Benefits that I’ve gained the most from using Payhip comprise –
- EU VAT is cared for, and it can be a big plus in my book.
- Affordable. The site takes zero charges asides From 5% per trade when you sell a item that is digital.
- Access to analytics accounts.
- Access to advertising tools. You have the option to create Coupons and social discounts.
- Capability to signup, handle and reward your affiliates.
- Access to merchandise sharing programs . Plus you can embed Your merchandise and Buy Now buttons right on blog or your own site.
- The Capacity to setup mailing lists so that your customers can Subscribe and stay current with your goods, and more.

What I Like About Payhip
Let’s get to the details. After my two + year Payhip expertise, here’s what I really like about the service…
Upgrades Are Instantaneous
Payhip let’s your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card with Stripe, and they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait around for them to clear some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the money is instantly available on your accounts, and if you’ve got the PayPal and also Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you’ll receive notifications whenever a sale occurs. I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale that is brand new never gets older. It’s also great to wake up in the morning, reach for your phone, and also see that you made X number of dollars while you’re sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The caveat to this is Stripe. If your clients pays by card with Stripe, there’ll be a three day hold until the cash is available. That is Stripe however — Payhip does not hold your cash in any way.
No Monthly Charges
One of the things that Payhip initially sold me on is that there is no Monthly charges or installation charges — only a simple flat fee of 5% per sale.
This was appealing to me back in 2016 Because, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it is now, and I wasn’t positive that I was going to consistently sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee for a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a small crowd, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my scenario.
Easy To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end Provides an analytics page That lets you view trades and earnings amounts relative to the day, week, month, year, or any other specified selection. Best of all, it is a to-the-point and very straightforward report.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the amount of data you are instantly smacked in the face can be a bit overwhelming, and lots of it is largely useless also. Payhip just gives you exactly what you’re there to see — sales information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another benefit users of Payhip encounter is By creating coupon codes, promotions to run.
The codes may be Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They could run for any duration you want (or even indefinitely,) along with the code itself can even be customized to whatever string of text you desire.
I’ve found this to be very helpful. Occasionally I’ll conduct a weekend promotion, place it on Facebook raise the article targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I don’t fail to go ROI positive by it. People really do respond to limited time offers. Play Books Offline
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the ability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your shop, and you are able to grant them a commission of whatever percentage you would like, whenever someone buys a product using their customized affiliate link.
This is useful since it allows people To sell your products for you, and if they have a platform and an audience of their own they can tap to, the commissions paid will be well worthwhile.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You’ll be, if you’re into advertising Able to easily incorporate Payhip along with your email marketing supplier that is preferred so that a purchase is made, the email address of the purchaser can be added into a list that is chosen.
This is relatively minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a mention — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the buyer’s email address into the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they have bought.
So if someone intends to Purchase Your PDF Publication make it accessible for free somewhere else, they’ll need to be okay with their personal email address being publicly available. I think that’s a means of deterring pirating.
Upload Many Sorts of Files
Payhip isn’t Only a marketplace for ebooks — You can upload virtually any sort of digital file. Font documents, video/audio files, photos, software, etc..
Total Simplicity and Modern Design
One thing that can not be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is your website looks. Individuals do not trust myself included. If a website looks like it has not been upgraded since the web 2.0 times, then I start to wonder if maybe I am in an abandoned building and placing my payment info to it’d pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That’s not the case with Payhip though. The Site has a very contemporary and simple layout. This is what you would anticipate a checkout page from a company to look like, if you were to buy a merchandise on the world wide web. Play Books Offline
Another thing I like about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. In the a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip stays out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and only the critical information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no.
Finally, what I enjoy about Payhip is That customer payment information isn’t stored by them, meaning your clients’ payment details are safe. The payment is handled through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it this way because they are successful companies with a lot of cash.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some items that I dislike about the service and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me about Payhip is that They do not have a mobile app. It would be convenient to have the ability to open an app and have a look while I’m out and about. You do this and can log into the site, but the site is optimized for mobile devices.
I like Payhip, but this is a very Lousy look in 2018. There is no reason you should not have a site optimized for cellular, and when you have that, you should be able to easily turn the website itself into it’s own app so users do not need to manually register in each time they want to check sales information. Let users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they are on their cellular devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I’d like to see an capability to indicate Other products. For instance, if they are purchasing a package of logo templates for $5, then I suggest, or might offer a bundle of business card templates for a few extra dollars. This is something which sites like VistaPrint and Amazon do well.
I can’t help but feel like there is a lot of money being left on the Table — for myself and Payhip — without this functionality. This may improve the Payhip experience for both the seller and the customer.
Establish On A Fixed Timezone
This one is mostly frivolous, but I Prefer to see it fixed.
Considering that Payhip is located in London, they’ve The timezone for the entire site set to BST. Since I’m located in the EST, I’ll occasionally check my analytics at 7PM or later and see that I left 0 sales for the day since Payhip thinks it’s midnight and its data reveals that.
Again, this is mostly a non-issue, however I Would love to observe the ability to correct the website to your timezone. Play Books Offline
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the voucher Code feature but it’s not perfect just yet.
As it now stands, the only promotion You’re able to run via a coupon code. I’d like to be able to offer a dollar amount to set a sale price.
At the moment, if I want to place a $27 product On sale for $10, I have to break out the calculator and do the math to figure out what percentage off will leave the last price. I believe that is unnecessary and could be made better.
When creating A new product in Payhip, you have access to advanced alternatives which include —
- Make your product private.
- Insert an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Publish a couple of sample or preview pages.
- To how many copies of eBook or your product can be add a limit amount sold.
- Create a license key .
Just how much does it cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing to set up or even host your electronic products. The site takes only 5 percent commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2years as a seller on Payhip, do you recommend it? Overall, yes. I am a happy client, but whether or not you ought to use it depends on your own situation.
If you’re a blogger with a small audience And you can not justify spending $10+ a month for something like Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. If you sell a merchandise that is high-ticket or have a massive audience and know that you’ll do at least $ 1,000 in sales each month, you might want to check into something most cost-efficient.
As of this date of the writing, Payhip functions On a set fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 a month.
If you are going to be promoting less than $1,000 a month in total volume, the math should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you are selling into the thousands, you want to go with Gumroad or look into another alternative. That is largely dependent on how many transactions it requires to reach those sales numbers, however, so make sure that you crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Experience and am very grateful for their solutions. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Play Books Offline
