Background Sell Digital Content On Shopify
Of all the ways of monetizing Articles, my favorite Strategy is To make and sell products such as learning design templates and materials. I have found that it’s extraordinarily more profitable than running ads and self-made products convert at a significantly higher rate than an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to facilitate this is Payhip, and this article I will be sharing what I both like and dislike about the service based in my Payhip experience for a vendor for two + years. My Payhip Expertise
If you have ever wanted to market digital products Through your own site, you’ll need a means to facilitate trades — some sort of infrastructure that will allow a client to select your goods, pay for it, and have it instantaneously delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
What is Payhip?
Payhip is An that provides customers with the tools and solutions for selling digital products directly to their customers and hosting online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
What are the advantages of using Payhip?
Each online Platform differs, and I’ve used a couple of these in the past.
For me, having A stage that is really easy to use and one that does not require a massive amount of my time is of paramount importance.
Payhip will Save you a great deal of time because everything is cared for on the Payhip platform.
The Advantages that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip comprise –

What I Like About Payhip
Let us get to the details. Following my 2+ year Payhip experience, Here Is What I really like about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card using Stripe, plus they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or make you wait around for them to clear some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the cash is instantly available in your account, and if you’ve got the PayPal and also Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you are going to receive notifications each time a sale happens. I happen to love this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. It’s also great to awake in the morning, reach for your telephone, and also see that you made X amount of dollars while you’re sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The only caveat to this can be Stripe. If your clients card with Stripe, there will be a 3 day hold before the money is available. This is all Stripe however — Payhip doesn’t hold your money in any way.
No Monthly Fees
Among those things that Payhip originally sold me on is that there’s no Monthly fees or setup charges — only a simple flat fee of 5 percent per purchase .
This was appealing to me in 2016 Since, at the time, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it is now, and that I was not positive I was going to consistently sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee for a similar service like Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger having a little crowd, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best match my scenario.
Simple To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That lets you view transactions and earnings amounts relative to the day, month, week, year, or some other given selection. Best of all, it is a report that is to-the-point and really simple.
If you have ever used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of data you’re immediately smacked in the face with can be somewhat overwhelming, and lots of it’s largely useless too. Payhip just gives you what you are there to view — revenue information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip experience is The capacity to run promotions by creating coupon codes.
The codes may be Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They can run for whatever duration you’d like (or even indefinitely,) along with the code itself can even be customized to whatever string of text you desire.
I’ve found this to be somewhat useful. Occasionally I’ll run a weekend promotion, place it on Facebook raise the article targeting a pixel re-marketing audience and I never fail to go ROI positive by it. People do respond well to limited time offers. Sell Digital Content On Shopify
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the capability to let your Readers register as an affiliate of your store, and you can award them a commission of whatever percentage you’d like, whenever someone purchases a product using their custom affiliate link.
This is useful since it allows other people To sell your merchandise the commissions paid will be well worth it and if they have an audience of their own and a stage that they can tap to.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You will be, if you’re into email advertising Able to integrate Payhip with your email marketing provider that is chosen so that if a purchase is made, the email address of the purchaser could be added into a selected list.
This is relatively minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I wish to give it a reference — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the buyer’s email address to the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they’ve bought.
So if someone plans to buy your PDF Publication make it publicly available for free somewhere else, they will have to be fine with their private email address being publicly accessible as well. I believe that’s a creative way of deterring pirating.
Upload Many Kinds of Files
Payhip is a market for ebooks — You can upload any kind of file. Font documents, video/audio files, photos, software, etc..
Total Simplicity and Modern Design
1 thing that can not be overlooked whenever You are selling something is how present your site appears. People generally don’t trust sites which look obsolete, myself included. If a website looks like it has not been upgraded because the web 2.0 times, then I start to wonder if perhaps I’m in an abandoned building and placing my payment information into it would pretty much be like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not true with Payhip though. The Website has a layout that is very modern and easy. This is what you would expect a checkout page by a trusted company if you were to buy a digital merchandise on the world wide web. Sell Digital Content On Shopify
Another thing I like about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. In the very moment a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your graphics, sales copy, and only the critical information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Eventually, what I enjoy about Payhip is That they don’t store customer payment info, meaning your clients’ payment details are safe. The payment is handled through Stripe or PayPal, and I prefer it this way because they are big companies with a lot of money to invest on security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the service and would like to see enhanced…
No Mobile App
1 thing that bugs me about Payhip is that They don’t have a app. It’d be convenient to be able to open an app and have a look during my earnings data while I’m out and about. The site isn’t optimized for mobile devices, although you do this and can log in to the site.
I enjoy Payhip, but that is a very Bad appearance in 2018. There is no reason you shouldn’t have a website optimized for mobile, and when you have that, you should be able to easily turn the website itself into it’s own program so users don’t have to manually register in every time they want to inspect sales data. Permit users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they’re on their mobile devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I would really like to see an ability that is Extra to suggest Other products similar to what the customer is about to purchase. If they are purchasing a package of templates for $5, I might provide a package of business card templates or propose some other similar product that could interest them that they didn’t know about. This is something that websites like Amazon and VistaPrint do.
I can’t help but feel as though there’s a lot of money Table — for myself and Payhip — without this functionality. This could enhance the Payhip encounter for both the client and the vendor.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is mostly frivolous, but I Prefer to see it corrected.
Since Payhip is located at London, they have BST was set to by the working timezone for the site. Since I am found in the EST, I will sometimes check my analytics at 7PM or afterwards and see that I made 0 sales for the day because Payhip thinks it is midnight and its information reflects that.
Again, this is mostly a non-issue, but I Would like to see that the ability to correct the website. Sell Digital Content On Shopify
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the voucher Code feature earlier, but it is not quite perfect.
As it currently stands, the only promotion You’re able to run through a voucher code. I’d love to have the ability to offer a dollar amount to set a sale price that is specified.
Right Now, if I Need to place a product Available for $10, I have to break out the calculator and do the math to figure out what percent off will leave the cost at $10. I think this is unnecessary and may be made better.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you have access to innovative options which include —
- Make your product private.
- Insert an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) to your eBook.
- Upload sample pages or a few preview.
- Insert a limit amount to how many copies of eBook or your product can be sold.
- Create a license key for each of your product/eBook revenue.
Just how much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you or host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per trade fee.
Would I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after two years as a vendor on Payhip, would you recommend it? Overall, yes. I am a happy client, but whether or not you ought to use it depends on your own situation.
If you’re a new blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ a month to get something like Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. If you have a huge audience or market a high-ticket product and know you’ll do at least $1,000 in sales each month, you might want to check into something most cost-efficient.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip functions On a set fee of 5 percent of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be promoting less than $1,000 a month in total quantity, the math should (in most cases) favor Payhip. But if you’re selling well into the thousands, you’ll probably want to go with Gumroad or look into some alternative. That is mostly dependent on how many transactions it takes to achieve those sales numbers so be sure to crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I love the Payhip Expertise and am very thankful for their solutions. I would like to see them continue to grow and succeed. Sell Digital Content On Shopify
