Background Sell Digital Products With Shopify
Of All of the ways of Creating content, my favorite method is To create and sell electronic products like studying design templates and materials. I’ve found that it is extraordinarily more rewarding than running advertisements from networks such as AdSense, and self-made products convert at a greater rate compared to an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this article I’ll be sharing what I both like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip expertise as a seller for two + years. My Payhip Expertise
If you’ve ever wanted to market products Through your own site, you’ll need a means to facilitate transactions — some sort of infrastructure that will allow a customer to select your goods, pay for it, and also have it immediately delivered to them with complete hands-off automation. Payhip solves this issue.
What is Payhip?
Payhip is An e-commerce platform/website that provides users with the easiest tools and options for selling products to their clients and hosting online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
Which are the benefits of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform differs, and I’ve used a couple of them previously.
For me personally, having A stage that is simple to use and one that doesn’t require a massive amount of my time that is valuable is of utmost significance.
Payhip will Save you a lot of time because everything is taken care of on the Payhip platform.
The Advantages that I’ve gained the most from using Payhip comprise –
- EU VAT is taken care of, and it is a huge plus in my book.
- Affordable. The website takes zero fees asides From 5 percent per transaction when you sell a product.
- Access to analytics reports.

What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let’s get to the information. Following my two + year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I love about the ceremony…
Upgrades Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card using Stripe, plus they do not pay out monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait around for them to clear some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the cash is immediately available in your accounts, and in case you’ve got the PayPal and Stripe programs installed on your mobile device, you’ll receive notifications each time a sale happens. I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. In addition, it is great to awake in the morning, reach for your telephone, and also see that you made X number of dollars while you were sleeping, and it’s all readily available for you to spend. The caveat to this can be Stripe. If your customers card using Stripe, there will be a three day hold before the money is available. This is all Stripe however — Payhip doesn’t hold your money at all.
No Monthly Charges
Among those things that Payhip initially sold me on is that there’s no Monthly charges or setup charges — only a simple flat fee of 5% per sale.
This was appealing to me Because, at the moment, my readership was 1/10th of what it’s now, and that I wasn’t positive that I was likely to consistently sell enough product to justify paying a monthly fee for a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a little crowd, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my situation.
Simple To Know Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an analytics page That lets you see trades and earnings quantities relative to this day, month, week, year, or some other given range. Best of all, it’s a to-the-point and simple report.
If you’ve ever used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of information you are immediately smacked in the face with can be somewhat overwhelming, and a lot of it is largely useless too. Payhip just gives you exactly what you are there to view — revenue information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip encounter is By producing coupon codes promotions to conduct.
The codes may be Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They could run for whatever length you want (or even indefinitely,) and the code itself can even be customized to whatever string of text you desire.
I’ve found this to be useful. Occasionally I’ll conduct a weekend promotion, post it on Facebook, then boost the post targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I never fail to go ROI positive by it. People do respond to limited time offers. Sell Digital Products With Shopify
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip gives you the ability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your shop, and if someone purchases a product you are able to grant them a commission of whatever percentage you’d like.
This is useful because it allows other people To sell your products the commissions paid will be worthwhile and should they have an audience of their own and a stage they can tap to.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You will be if you’re into email advertising Able to easily integrate Payhip with your email advertising provider that is chosen so that if a purchase is made, the buyer’s email address can be added into a listing that is selected.
That is small but I think it’s Pretty cool so I wish to give it a reference — if you desire, you’ll have Payhip stamp the purchaser’s email address into the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they’ve purchased.
So if someone intends to buy your PDF Book make it publicly accessible for free somewhere else, they’ll need to be okay with their email address being publicly available. I think that’s a creative means of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Kinds of Files
Payhip is a marketplace for ebooks — You can upload any kind of file. Font documents, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
1 thing that can not be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is your site looks. People generally do not trust myself included. If a website looks like it hasn’t been upgraded since the web 2.0 days, I start to wonder if maybe I’m in an abandoned construction and putting my payment info into it would pretty much be like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not the case with Payhip though. The Website has a design. This is exactly what you’d anticipate a checkout page by a trusted business to appear like In the event that you were to purchase a digital product on the world wide web. Sell Digital Products With Shopify
Another thing I enjoy about Payhip is its In general simplicity. In the very second a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your graphics, sales copy, and just the critical information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Finally, what I like about Payhip is That they don’t store customer payment info, meaning your customers’ payment details are safe. The payment is managed through PayPal or Stripe, and I prefer it that way because they are big companies with a lot of money.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I enjoy Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me about Payhip is that They don’t have a mobile app. It would be convenient to have the ability to open an app while I’m out and about and have a look through my data. You do so and can log in to the site, but the website isn’t optimized for mobile devices.
I like Payhip, but this is a really Bad appearance in 2018. There’s no reason you should not have a site optimized for cellular, and when you’ve got that, you should be able to easily turn the website itself right into it’s own app so users do not need to manually register in every time they would like to check sales data. Permit users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they’re on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons In Checkout
On the checkout page, I would like to see an capability to suggest Other products. By way of instance, if they’re purchasing a package of templates for $5, I propose, or could provide a package of business card templates to get a few added bucks. This is something that sites like VistaPrint and Amazon do well.
I can not help but feel like there is a Great Deal of money being left on the Table — for myself and Payhip — with no operation. This may enhance the Payhip encounter for both the client and the seller.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I’d still Prefer to see it fixed.
Since Payhip is located at London, they have BST was set to by the timezone for the site. Since I’m found in the EST, I’ll occasionally check my analytics at 7PM or afterwards and see that I left 0 earnings for the day because Payhip thinks it is midnight and its data reveals that.
This is a non-issue, but I Would love to see the capability to correct the website. Sell Digital Products With Shopify
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon Code feature but it’s not perfect just yet.
As it stands, the only advertising You can run via a voucher code is for a percentage off. Ideally, I’d love to have the ability to offer a dollar amount off the original cost, or the ability to set a specified sale price.
At the moment, if I Need to put a product that is $27 Available for $10, I must break out the calculator and do the math to determine what percentage off will render the cost at $10. I think that is unnecessary and could be made better.
When creating A new product in Payhip, you have access to advanced options which include —
- Make your product personal.
- Insert an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Publish sample pages or a preview.
- Insert a limit number sold.
- Generate a license key .
Just how much does it cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing or even host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2+ years as a vendor on Payhip, do you recommend it? Total, yes. I am very much a client, but whether you should use it depends on your own situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ a month to get something such as Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. In case you know you’ll be doing at least $ 1,000 in sales each month and sell a product or have a huge audience, you may want to look into something most cost-efficient.
As of this date of the writing, Payhip works On a flat fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be promoting less than $1,000 a month in total quantity, the mathematics should (in most cases) favor Payhip. But if you are selling well into the thousands, you need to go with Gumroad or start looking into some other choice. That is largely dependent on how many transactions it takes to reach those sales numbers, however, so make sure to crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I love the Payhip Experience and am very thankful for their solutions. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Sell Digital Products With Shopify
