Background Selling Digital Items On Etsy
Of all the ways of monetizing blog Articles, my favorite Strategy is To make and sell digital products such as learning materials and layout templates. I’ve found that it is extraordinarily rewarding than running advertisements and products convert at a significantly greater rate compared to an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to ease this can be Payhip, and in this post I’ll be discussing what I both like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip experience for a vendor for 2+ years. My Payhip Expertise
If you wanted to market digital products Through your own website, you’ll want a means to facilitate transactions — some sort of infrastructure that will allow a customer to select your goods, cover it, and also have it immediately delivered to them with whole hands-off automation. Payhip solves this issue.
Payhip is An e-commerce platform/website that gives customers with the simplest tools and options for hosting and selling digital products directly to their clients online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is currently based in my capital city of London.
What are the advantages of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I’ve used a few of these in the past.
Having A platform that is easy to use and one that does not take a massive amount of my valuable time is of paramount importance.
Payhip will Save a great deal of time because everything is cared for on the Payhip platform.
The Advantages that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip comprise –
- EU VAT is taken care of, which is a big plus in my book.
- Affordable. The site takes zero fees asides From 5% per transaction when you sell a product that is digital.
- Accessibility to analytics reports.
- Access to marketing tools. You have the option to create Coupons and social discounts.
- Capability to signup, manage and reward your affiliates.
- Access to merchandise sharing tools. Plus it is possible to embed Your product and Buy Now buttons on your own website or blog.
- The Capacity to setup mailing lists so that your clients can Subscribe and stay up to date with your goods, and more.

What I Like About Payhip
Let’s get to the information. After my 2+ year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I love about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card with Stripe, plus they do not pay out monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait for them to clean some kind of holding period. When a client makes a purchase, the cash is instantly available in your account, and if you’ve got the PayPal and Stripe apps installed on your mobile device, you are going to receive notifications whenever a sale happens. I happen to love this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. It’s also great to wake up in the morning, reach for your phone, and see you made X amount of dollars while you were sleeping, and it is all easily available for you to spend. The only caveat to this is Stripe. If your clients card with Stripe, there will be a 3 day hold before the money is available. That is all Stripe though — Payhip does not hold your cash at all.
No Monthly Fees
Among those things that Payhip initially sold me on is that there’s no Monthly charges or installation charges — only a simple flat charge of 5% per purchase .
This was attractive to me back in 2016 Since, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and I wasn’t positive I was going to always sell enough product to warrant paying a monthly fee to get a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger having a little audience, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best match my situation.
Easy To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end offers an page That enables you to view trades and earnings quantities relative to the day, week, month, year, or any other specified range. On top of that, it’s a report.
If you’ve ever used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the number of information you’re immediately smacked in the face with can be a bit overwhelming, and lots of it is largely useless also. Payhip just gives you what you’re there to view — revenue data. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip encounter is The capacity to run promotions.
The codes can be for almost any percentage you’d Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They can run for any length you’d like (or even indefinitely,) along with the code itself may even be customized to whatever series of text you would like.
I have found this to be useful. Sometimes I will run a weekend marketing, place it on Facebook, then boost the post targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I don’t fail to go ROI positive with it. People truly do respond well to limited time offers. Selling Digital Items On Etsy
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the ability to let your Readers register as an affiliate of your shop, and whenever someone purchases a product you are able to grant.
This is useful since it allows other people To sell your merchandise the commissions paid will be well worth it and if they have a stage and an audience of their own that they can tap into.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You will be if you’re into advertising Able to integrate Payhip along with your email advertising supplier that is preferred so that if a purchase is made, the purchaser’s email address could be added to a selected listing.
This is minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a mention — if you desire, you’ll have Payhip stamp the purchaser’s email address into the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they’ve purchased.
So if someone plans to buy your PDF Publication then make it accessible for free they’ll need to be okay with their personal email address being publicly available also. I believe that’s a creative means of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Kinds of Files
Payhip isn’t Only a marketplace for ebooks — It’s possible to upload virtually any kind of electronic file. Font files, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
1 thing that can’t be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is how present your site appears. People generally don’t trust sites which look outdated, myself included. If a site looks like it has not been updated since the web 2.0 days, I start to wonder if maybe I’m in an abandoned construction and putting my payment information into it would pretty much be like throwing my money into a black hole.
That is not the case with Payhip though. The Site has a design. In the event that you should buy a product this is exactly what you’d anticipate a checkout page from a trusted business to appear like. Selling Digital Items On Etsy
Another thing that I enjoy about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. From the a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip remains out of the way. They display your images, sales copy, and just the crucial info (such as price.) They do absolutely nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Finally, what I like about Payhip is That they do not store customer payment information, meaning that your clients’ payment details are secure. The payment is handled through Stripe or PayPal, and I prefer it that way because they’re large, successful companies with lots of money to invest on security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I like Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some things that I dislike about the service and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
One thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They do not have a app. It would be convenient to have the ability to start an app while I am out and about, and take a look. The site isn’t even optimized for mobile devices, although you do so and can log into the website.
I like Payhip, but that is a very Lousy look in 2018. There’s no reason you shouldn’t have a website optimized for mobile, and once you have that, you should be able to easily turn the site itself into it’s own program so users do not have to manually register in each time they want to inspect sales information. Users of Payhip encounter a much better platform when they’re on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I would really like to see an Extra ability to indicate Other products. For instance, if they’re buying a package of logo templates for $5, then I suggest, or might offer a package of business card templates for a couple of added dollars. This is something which websites like VistaPrint and Amazon do well.
I can not help but feel as though there is a Great Deal of money being left on the Table — for myself and Payhip — with no functionality. This could improve the Payhip encounter for both the seller and the customer.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I’d still Prefer to see it fixed.
Considering that Payhip is located at London, they have BST was set to by the timezone for the entire website. Since I am found in the EST, I will occasionally check my stats at 7PM or later and see that I made 0 earnings for the day since Payhip thinks it’s midnight and its own data reflects that.
Again, this is mostly a non-issue, however I Would love to observe that the ability to adjust the site. Selling Digital Items On Etsy
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon Code feature but it’s not quite perfect.
As it currently stands, the advertising You’re able to run through a coupon code is for a percentage off. I’d like to have the ability to offer a dollar amount off the cost, or the ability to set a sale price.
At the moment, if I want to put a merchandise On sale for $10, do the math to figure out what percent off would leave the final price and I have to break out the calculator. I think this is unnecessary and could be improved.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you have access to advanced alternatives which include —
- Make your merchandise private.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Publish a preview or sample pages.
- To how many copies of your product or eBook could be, add a limit number sold.
- Generate a license key that is exceptional .
Just how much does it cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing to set up or host your products. The website takes only 5 percent commission per trade fee.
Can I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after two years as a seller on Payhip, would you recommend it? Total, yes. I am very much a client, but whether or not you ought to use it depends upon your own situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can not justify spending $10+ per month for something like Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. But if you have a huge audience or market a high-ticket product and know you’ll do at least $1,000 in sales every month, you may want to check into something.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip functions On a flat fee of 5% of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you’re going to be promoting $1,000 a month in total quantity, the mathematics should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you are selling into the thousands, you want to go with Gumroad or look into some choice. This is largely dependent on how many transactions it requires to reach those sales numbers, however, so make sure that you crunch the numbers.
Personally, I absolutely love the Payhip Experience and am thankful for their solutions. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Selling Digital Items On Etsy
