Intro Selling Digital Services
Of all the ways of monetizing blog content, my favorite Strategy is To make and sell digital products. I have discovered that it is extraordinarily more profitable than running ads and self explanatory products convert at a greater speed compared to an affiliate product that somebody else created. The service I use to ease this is Payhip, and in this post I will be discussing what I like and dislike about the service based on my Payhip expertise for a vendor for 2+ years. My Payhip Expertise
If you have ever wanted to sell products Through your own site, you’ll need a means to facilitate trades — some kind of infrastructure which will enable a client to select your goods, cover it, and have it immediately delivered to them with whole hands-off automation. Payhip solves this issue.
Payhip is An that gives customers with the simplest tools and solutions for hosting and selling electronic products to their customers online.
The Provider Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is currently based in my capital city of London.
What are the benefits of utilizing Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I’ve used a few of these previously.
Having A platform that is so simple to use and one that doesn’t require a massive amount of my time that is valuable is of utmost importance.
Payhip will Save a lot of time because everything is taken care of on the Payhip platform.
The Benefits that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip include –
- EU VAT is taken care of, and it can be a huge plus in my book.
- Affordable. The site takes zero charges asides From 5% per transaction when you sell a product.
- Access to analytics reports.
- Access to marketing tools. You have the option to create Social and Coupons discounts.

What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let’s get to the information. Following my two year Payhip expertise, Here Is What I really like about the service…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let’s your customers pay with PayPal Or from credit/debit card using Stripe, plus they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or make you wait for them to clear some kind of holding period. When a customer makes a purchase, the money is immediately available in your accounts, and if you’ve got the PayPal and also Stripe apps installed on your mobile device, you are going to receive notifications each time a sale occurs. Selling Digital Services
I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale that is brand new never gets old. In addition, it is great to awake in the morning, reach for your telephone, and also see that you made X number of dollars while you’re sleeping, and it is all readily available for you to spend. The only caveat to this can be Stripe. If your clients pays by card with Stripe, there will be a three day hold until the cash is available. That is all Stripe however — Payhip doesn’t hold your money in any way.
No Monthly Fees
Among those things that Payhip initially sold me on is that there is no Monthly charges or installation charges — just a simple flat charge of 5% per sale.
This was attractive to me Because, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and that I was not positive that I was likely to consistently sell enough product to justify paying a monthly fee to get a similar service like Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a little crowd, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my scenario.
Simple To Understand Analytics
Payhip’s back end Provides an page That enables you to see trades and earnings quantities relative to the day, month, week, year, or some other specified range. On top of that, it’s a report that is simple and to-the-point.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the amount of data you’re immediately smacked in the face can be a bit overwhelming, and lots of it is mostly useless also. Payhip just provides you what you are there to see — revenue information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another advantage users of Payhip experience is The capacity to run promotions.
The codes can be for any percentage you would Like and for any (or all) products. They could run for any duration you want (or even indefinitely,) and the code itself can even be customized to whatever series of text you desire.
I’ve found this to be helpful. Sometimes I will run a weekend marketing, post it on Facebook raise the article targeting a pixel audience that is re-marketing and I don’t fail to go ROI positive with it. People do respond well to limited time offers. Selling Digital Services
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip Provides you the ability Readers sign up as an affiliate of your shop, and someone buys a product with their customized affiliate link, you are able to grant them a commission of whatever percent you would like.
This is useful since it allows other Men and Women To sell your products the commissions paid will be well worthwhile and should they have an audience of their own and a platform they can tap into.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
You’ll be, if you’re into marketing Able to integrate Payhip along with your email advertising provider so that a sale is made, the email address of the purchaser could be added to a list.
That is minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a mention — if you desire, you’ll have Payhip stamp the purchaser’s email address into the upper left corner of each page of a PDF document they have purchased.
So if someone plans to Purchase Your PDF Book then make it available for free they’ll need to be fine with their email address being publicly accessible also. I think that is a creative means of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Sorts of Files
Payhip is a market for ebooks — You can upload any kind of file. Font files, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Overall Simplicity and Modern Design
1 thing that can not be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is how current your website appears. Individuals generally don’t trust sites that look outdated, myself included. If a site looks like it has not been updated since the net 2.0 times, then I begin to wonder if perhaps I am in an abandoned building and putting my payment info to it’d pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That’s not true with Payhip though. The Website has a layout. This is what you would expect a checkout page by a business to look like, In the event that you were to buy a merchandise on the internet. Selling Digital Services
Another thing that I enjoy about Payhip is its Overall simplicity. From the a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip stays out of the way. They display your graphics, sales copy, and only the crucial info (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Eventually, what I enjoy about Payhip is That customer payment information isn’t stored by them, meaning that your clients’ payment details are safe. The payment is managed through Stripe or PayPal, and I prefer it that way as they are big, successful companies with a lot of cash.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I enjoy Payhip, it is far from perfect. Here are some items that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
1 thing that bugs me around Payhip is that They do not have a mobile app. It would be convenient to be able to start an app while I am out and around, and take a look during my data. The website is optimized for mobile devices, although you do this and may log in to the site.
I enjoy Payhip, but that is a really Bad appearance in 2018. There’s no reason you should not have a website optimized for cellular, and when you’ve got that, you should be able to easily turn the website itself right into it’s own program so users don’t need to manually register in each time they would like to inspect sales information. Users of Payhip experience a better platform when they are on their devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I would really like to see an added ability to indicate Other products similar to what the customer is going to buy. For instance, if they’re buying a package of templates for $5, I propose some other product which may interest them that they previously didn’t know about, or might offer a package of business card templates to get a couple of bucks. This is something which sites like VistaPrint and Amazon do.
I can’t help but feel like there is a Great Deal of money being left on the Table — for both myself and Payhip — with no operation. This could enhance the Payhip encounter for both the customer and the vendor.
Set On A Fixed Timezone
This one is frivolous, but I Like to see it corrected.
Since Payhip is located in London, they have BST was place to by the working timezone for the whole site. Since I’m located in the EST, I will sometimes check my analytics at 7PM or afterwards and see that I left 0 earnings for the day because Payhip thinks it’s midnight and its data reflects that.
This is largely a non-issue, however I Would like to observe that the ability to adjust the website to your timezone. Selling Digital Services
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon It is not perfect, although code feature earlier.
As it stands, the only advertising You can run via a coupon code is for a percent off. Ideally, I’d love to be able to offer a dollar amount to set a sale price.
Right Now, if I want to place a product that is $27 Available for $10, do the math to determine what percentage off would render the final cost and I have to break out the calculator. I think this is unnecessary and could be made better.
When creating A new product in Payhip, you have access to innovative options including —
- Make your merchandise private.
- Add an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) for your eBook.
- Upload a few preview or sample pages.
- To how many copies of eBook or your product could be, Insert a limitation number sold.
- Generate a license key that is unique for each of your product/eBook sales.
How much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you nothing to set up or even host your products. The site takes only 5% commission per transaction fee.
Would I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after 2+ years as a seller on Payhip, would you recommend it? Overall, yes. I am a satisfied client, but whether or not you should use it depends on your situation.
If you are a blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ a month to get something like Gumroad, then yes, I would absolutely recommend Payhip. If you have a massive audience or sell a merchandise and know that you’ll be doing at least $1,000 in sales each month, you may want to check into something most cost-efficient.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip functions On a set fee of 5 percent of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is currently 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 a month.
If you’re going to be selling less than $1,000 a month in total quantity, the mathematics should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you’re selling well into the thousands, you are probably going to need to decide on Gumroad or start looking into some choice. That is largely dependent on the number of transactions it takes to achieve those sales numbers though, so be certain that you crunch the numbers.
Personally, I love the Payhip Experience and am very thankful for their solutions. I would like to see them continue to grow and succeed. Selling Digital Services
