Background Squarespace Selling Digital Goods
Of All of the ways of Creating Articles, my favorite Strategy is To create and sell digital products like learning layout templates and materials. I’ve found that it’s extraordinarily more rewarding than running ads from networks like AdSense, and self-made products convert at a much higher speed compared to an affiliate product that someone else created. The support I use to facilitate this can be Payhip, and this post I’ll be discussing what I like and dislike about the ceremony based in my Payhip experience for a seller for two + years. My Payhip Experience
If you have ever wanted to sell products Through your own site, you’ll want a way to facilitate transactions — some kind of infrastructure that will allow a client to select your goods, pay for it, and also have it instantaneously delivered to them with whole hands-off automation. Payhip solves this problem.
Payhip is An that provides customers with the tools and options for selling products to their clients and hosting online.
The company Was co-founded by Abs Farah and Kahin Farah and is now based in my capital city of London.
Which are the benefits of using Payhip?
Each online Platform is different, and I’ve used a couple of these in the past.
For me, having A stage that is simple to use and one that doesn’t take a huge amount of my time is of utmost importance.
Payhip will Save you a lot of time too because everything is taken care of on the Payhip platform.
The Benefits that I’ve gained the most from utilizing Payhip comprise –
- EU VAT is cared for, which is a big plus in my book.
- Affordable. The site takes zero fees asides From 5 percent per trade when you sell a item.
- Access to analytics reports.
- Access to marketing tools. You have the option to create Coupons and social discounts.
- Ability to signup, manage and reward your own affiliates.
- Access to merchandise sharing programs . Plus you can embed Your merchandise and Buy Now buttons on blog or your website.
- The ability to set mailing lists so that your clients can Subscribe and remain up to date with your digital goods, and much more.
- Immediate digital product delivery via email link for customers.
What I Enjoy About Payhip
Let’s get to the details. Following my 2+ year Payhip experience, here’s what I love about the ceremony…
Payments Are Instantaneous
Payhip let us your customers pay with PayPal Or by credit/debit card using Stripe, plus they don’t cover monthly/weekly/quarterly or force you to wait for them to clear some sort of holding period. When a client makes a purchase, the money is instantly available on your account, and if you have the PayPal and also Stripe apps installed on your mobile device, you’ll receive notifications whenever a sale happens. I happen to appreciate this. The excitement of Seeing a sale never gets old. It’s also great to wake up in the morning, reach for your phone, and see you made X amount of dollars while you were sleeping, and it is all easily available for you to spend. The caveat to this can be Stripe. If your clients pays by card with Stripe, there’ll be a 3 day hold before the cash is available. That is all Stripe however — Payhip does not hold your money at all.
No Monthly Fees
One of the things that Payhip initially sold me on is that there is no Monthly fees or installation charges — only a simple flat charge of 5 percent per purchase .
This was attractive to me back Because, at the moment, my readership was less than 1/10th of what it’s now, and I wasn’t positive that I was going to always sell enough product to justify paying a monthly fee to get a similar service such as Gumroad. As a relatively new blogger with a small audience, Payhip was the no-risk solution that best fit my scenario.
Simple To Know Analytics
Payhip’s back end Provides an analytics page That enables you to view transactions and earnings quantities relative to this day, month, week, year, or some other specified selection. On top of that, it’s a simple and to-the-point report.
If you used Google Analytics or Facebook analytics, the amount of information you’re immediately smacked in the face can be somewhat overwhelming, and lots of it is mostly useless also. Payhip just gives you what you’re there to view — revenue information. Nothing more, nothing less.
Run Promotions with Coupon Codes
Another benefit users of Payhip encounter is By producing coupon codes, promotions to run.
The codes can be for almost any percentage you would Enjoy and for any (or all) products. They could run for whatever length you want (or even indefinitely,) and the code itself may even be customized to whatever series of text you desire.
I’ve found this to be somewhat helpful. Sometimes I’ll run a weekend marketing, place it on Facebook, then boost the post targeting a pixel re-marketing audience and I don’t fail to go ROI positive by it. People do respond to limited time offers. Squarespace Selling Digital Goods
Your Own Affiliate Program
Payhip gives you the capability to let your Readers sign up as an affiliate of your store, and you can grant, someone purchases a product using their custom affiliate link.
This is useful since it allows other Men and Women To market your merchandise the commissions paid will be well worthwhile and should they have a stage and an audience of their own they can tap to.
Easy Integration with Email Marketing
If you are into advertising, you will be Able to readily integrate Payhip along with your email advertising supplier so that if a sale is made, the purchaser’s email address can be added into a chosen list.
This is minor but I think it’s Pretty cool so I want to give it a mention — if you desire, you can have Payhip postage the purchaser’s email address into the top left corner of each page of a PDF document they’ve bought.
So if someone intends to Purchase Your PDF Publication make it available for free they will need to be fine with their email address being available. I think that is a means of deterring pirating.
Upload Most Kinds of Files
Payhip is not Only a marketplace for ebooks — You can upload any kind of digital file. Font documents, video/audio files, photographs, software, etc..
Total Simplicity and Modern Design
1 thing that can’t be overlooked whenever You’re selling something is how current your website looks. People don’t trust myself included. If a site looks like it hasn’t been updated since the net 2.0 times, then I begin to wonder if perhaps I am in an abandoned construction and placing my payment info to it’d pretty much be just like throwing my money into a black hole.
That’s not the case with Payhip though. The Site has a design. In the event that you were to purchase a product on the internet, this is exactly what you would expect a checkout page from a company to look like. Squarespace Selling Digital Goods
Another thing that I like about Payhip is its own In general simplicity. In the second a visitor lands on your product page, Payhip stays out of the way. They display your graphics, sales copy, and only the crucial information (like price.) They do nothing to interfere with your sale — no self-promotion whatsoever.
Eventually, what I like about Payhip is That customer payment info isn’t stored by them, meaning that your customers’ payment details are safe. The payment is totally handled through Stripe or PayPal, and I prefer it this way as they are big, successful companies with lots of money to spend on security.
What I Dislike About Payhip
As much as I enjoy Payhip, it’s far from perfect. Here are some items that I dislike about the ceremony and would like to see improved…
No Mobile App
1 thing that bugs me about Payhip is that They don’t have a mobile app. It’d be convenient to be able to start an app while I am out and around, and have a look. The site is optimized for mobile devices, although you can log in to the site and do this.
I enjoy Payhip, but this is a really Lousy look in 2018. There is no reason you should not have a site optimized for cellular, and once you’ve got that, you should be able to easily turn the website itself into it’s own app so users don’t have to manually sign in each time they want to inspect sales data. Permit users of Payhip experience a platform when they are on their cellular devices.
No Upsells or Add-Ons At Checkout
On the checkout page, I’d really like to see an ability to suggest Other products. If they are purchasing a package of logo templates for $5, then I suggest some other product that may interest them they previously didn’t know about, or could offer a package of business card templates for a couple of extra bucks. This is something that sites like Amazon and VistaPrint do.
I can not help but feel as though there’s a lot of money Table — for both myself and Payhip — with no operation. This could enhance the Payhip experience for both the vendor and the customer.
Establish On A Fixed Timezone
This one is largely frivolous, but I had still Like to see it fixed.
Considering that Payhip is located in London, they’ve BST was set to by the working timezone for the whole website. Since I’m found in the EST, I will occasionally check my stats at 7PM or afterwards and see that I left 0 earnings for the day because Payhip thinks it is midnight and its own information reveals that.
This is a non-issue, however I Would love to see that the ability to adjust the site. Squarespace Selling Digital Goods
More Flexibility with Coupon Codes
I know I raved about the coupon It is not quite perfect yet, although Code attribute earlier.
As it stands, the sole promotion You can run via a coupon code. I’d like to have the ability to offer a dollar amount off the original cost, or the ability to set a sale price that is predetermined.
At the moment, if I want to put a $27 merchandise Available for $10, I must break out the calculator and do the math to figure out what percentage off will render the price at $10. I think that is unnecessary and may be made better.
When creating A brand new product in Payhip, you have access to advanced alternatives which include —
- Make your product private.
- Insert an ISBN (Internation Standard Book Number) to your eBook.
- Publish a couple of preview or sample pages.
- Add a limitation amount to the number of copies of market or your product could be sold.
- Create a unique license key for each of your product/eBook revenue.
How much does this cost?
Payhip will Cost you to establish or host your electronic products. The site takes only 5% commission per transaction fee.
Would I Recommend Payhip?
This leaves us with the burning question: after two years as a seller on Payhip, would you recommend it? Total, yes. I am a customer, but whether or not you ought to use it depends upon your own situation.
If you are a new blogger with a small audience And you can’t justify spending $10+ per month to get something like Gumroad, then yes, I would recommend Payhip. In case you know that you’ll be doing at least $ 1,000 in sales every month and market a merchandise that is high-ticket or have a huge audience, you may want to look into something.
As of the date of this writing, Payhip functions On a set fee of 5 percent of every sale. Gumroad’s fee is now 3.5% + $0.30 per transaction + $10 per month.
If you are going to be promoting $1,000 a month in total volume, the math should (typically ) prefer Payhip. But if you’re selling into the thousands, you are probably going to need to decide on Gumroad or look into some choice. This is largely dependent on how many transactions it requires to achieve those sales numbers though, so make certain that you crunch the numbers on your own.
Personally, I love the Payhip Experience and am thankful for their services. I want to see them continue to grow and succeed. Squarespace Selling Digital Goods
